Kickstarter.com

Hi, today i'm going to tell you something about the crowd funding plattform Kickstarter.com. On this site its possible for everyone to start a projekt or funding to projects from other people. Every projekt has a money target and if its reached the project is successfully funded.

I already knew kickstarter.com before this Social Web Class because of a project called Double Fine Adventure. Tim Schafer (Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango) is one of the programmers here. The project is one of the most successful ones on kickstarter it Pledged about 3.3 Million Dollar of a goal of 400 thousand. That means about 800 percent more as suspected.

Another interesting projekt was the Printbot LC. It's a Full LASERCUT Printrbot Kit. Everything you need in one box to assemble a Printrbot Lasercut (“LC”). It funded about 800,000 Dollars, about 3000 percent more than suspected. Amazing!

ScanBox for iPhone is also such a cool project it's an easy to use, affordable and unbelievably portable scanning box that uses your smartphone's camera to take amazing high quality scans. It's easy to set up and packs down flat to easily fit into your bag or brief case. This project hast 25 Day's to go and has already reached ten times the Goal.

What makes Games successful?

Jesse Schell: When games invade real life

Another Ted Talk: Jesse Schell talks about the payment models of Facebook games. These models are different to retail games. For an retail game you pay about 50 Dollars, for this you'll receive all the content  of the game. It's not necessary to pay for additional content, if you want the full experience of the game.
The Facebook game model is really different, the game at all is free to play but if you buy ingame content you can power up your skills. The most common model is that people not paying for stuff can't reach the skill of the paying ones.
He although talks about the invasion of the achievements in the real life and the problem coming with it.

I think these models are very dangerous for kids and their uniformed parents.

What do you think about it?

Social Network Games

Today I like to talk about a social network game I played. It's called Zuma Blitz. You can describe it as an  addictive ball matching game. In both long and short doses of playing it's a lot of fun. But enough talking look at the Screenshot and try it.

Web 2.0 vs Social Media

Hi there, today i want to show you the difference between social media and web 2.0 in google trends.
Here we can see that the interest in Social Media rises over in the interest in web 2.0  in the middle of 2009. Thus Social web is now more important then the technology to implement it.

joindiaspora.com

I tried another social network called dispora. It has a key feature:

"You own your pictures, and you shouldn’t have to give that up just to share them. You maintain ownership of everything you share on Diaspora, giving you full control over how it's distributed."

Forming – Storming – Norming – Performing

Today i'll tell you something about Group development. I have read the wikipedia article
Tuckman's stages of group development.
There are four Phases of group development.

1st Forming:

In this phase every group member takes his place and gets his tasks.

2nd Storming:

Here the people fight in their Roles, fight against there partners, so theres a lot of storm out there.

3rd Norming:

After the storming phase the people now should be satisfied with their Role.

4th Perform:

At the end of this model the group now is in the state of being productive.
In my opinion the model meets exact that how it really was.

See you soon
